Nouns Grammar Rules

In general nouns refer to a person, an object, or abstract ideas. For example: a fast runner the noun is [runner] because it refers to a person. The examples below use nouns in different ways and places to demonstrate how they behave in a sentence.

[verb + noun] чамд сүү бий юу?

I have milk and coffee
[preposition + noun] надад сүү бас кофе байгаа

[number + plural noun] тэр эрэгтэй гурван алимтай
[kheer ekheegkheeĭ gurvan alimtaĭ]
she only has one apple
[number + singular noun] тэр эмэгтэй ганц л алимтай

we live in a small house

Now we finally reach the fun part, the practice of the daily conversations. These phrases are used to get to know new people, and break the ice.

English - Mongolian - Pronunciation
Do you speak (English/ Mongolian)? та англи хэлээр/ монгол хэлээр ярьдаг уу? [ta angli kheekhekheer / mongol kheekhekheer yarʹdag uu?]
Just a little бага зэрэг [baga zekheeg]
I like Mongolian монгол хэл надад таалагдаж байна [mongol kheel nadad taalagdazh baĭna]
Can I practice with you? би тантай дадлага хийж болох уу? [bi tantaĭ dadlaga khiĭzh bolokh uu?]
How old are you? та хэдэн настай вэ? [ta kheeden nastaĭ ve?]
I'm thirty three years old би гучин настай. [bi guchin nastaĭ.]
It was nice talking to you таньтай ярилцахад таатай байлаа. [tanʹtaĭ yariltsakhad taataĭ baĭlaa.]
