Numbers Grammar Rules

Armenian cardinal numbers refer to the counting numbers, because they show quantity. For example: I speak two languages. Ordinal numbers on the other hand tell the order of things and their rank: my first language is Armenian. The examples below use numbers in different ways and places to demonstrate how they behave in a sentence.

my daughter has two cats [number + noun] Իմ դուստրը երկու կատու ունի: [Im dustry yerku katu uni]
she speaks seven languages [verb + number] Նա խոսում է յոթ լեզուներով: [Na khosum e yot’ lezunerov]
my brother has one son [number + singular noun] Եղբայրս մեկ որդի ունի: [Yeghbayrs mek vordi uni]
this is my second lesson [ordinal number + noun] Սա իմ երկրորդ դասն է: [Sa im yerkrord dasn e]
