Adjectives Grammar Rules

In general adjectives are words which describe or modify another person or object in a given sentence. For example: a beautiful flower the adjective is [beautiful] because it describes the noun [flower]. The following examples use adjectives in different ways and places to demonstrate how they behave in a sentence.

Grammar Rules - Assamese + Pronunciation
my house is white
[noun + adjective] মোৰ ঘৰটো ব'গা।
[Mōra gharaṭō ba gā.]
your country is big
[noun + adjective] আপোনাৰ দেশখন ডাঙৰ।
[Āpōnāra dēśakhana ḍāṅara.]
new books are expensive
[plural + adjective] নতুন কিতাপবোৰ দামী।
[Natuna kitāpabōra dāmī.]
we are happy here
[pronoun + verb + adjective] আমি ইয়াত সুখী।
[Āmi iẏāta sukhī.]
she has three small dogs
[adjective + plural] তেখেতৰ তিনিটা সৰু কুকুৰ আছে।
[Tēkhētara tiniṭā sarau kukura āchē.]
this language is very easy
[adverb + adjective] এই ভাষাটো বৰ সহজ।
[Ē'i bhāṣāṭō bara sahaja.]
I have a small green house
[adjective + adjective] মোৰ এটা সৰু সেউজীয়া ঘৰ আছে।
[Mōra ēṭā sarau sē'ujīẏā ghara āchē.]

Now we finally reach the most exciting part, the practice of the daily expressions used in almost every conversation. I recommend memorizing these phrases, because you will need them for sure.

hi হেৰি [Hērai]
how are you? কেনে আছে? [Kēnē āchē?]
I'm good, thank you ভালে আছোঁ, ধন্যবাদ। [Bhālē āchōm̐, dhan'yabāda.]
and you? আপোনাৰ ভালনে? [Āpōnāra bhālanē?]
what is your name? আপোনাৰ নাম কি? [Āpōnāra nāma ki?]
my name is Maya মোৰ নাম মায়া। [Mōra nāma māẏā.]
nice to meet you (আপোনাক) লগ পাই ভাল লাগিল। [(Āpōnāka) laga pā'i bhāla lāgila.]
