Telugu Nouns

Welcome to the third Telugu lesson about nouns. This time we will first learn about fruits and vegetables, followed by grammar rules, then food items, finally a conversation in Telugu to help you practice your daily phrases. To hear the pronunciation, just click on the sound icon.

potatoes బంగాళ దుంప [Baṅgāḷa dumpa]

tomatoes బమాటాలు [Bamāṭālu]

onions ఉల్లిపాయలు [Ullipāyalu]

carrots ముల్లంగిలు [Mullaṅgilu]

fruits పండ్లు [Paṇḍlu]

Nouns Grammar Rules

In general nouns refer to a person, an object, or abstract ideas. For example: a fast runner the noun is [runner] because it refers to a person. The examples below use nouns in different ways and places to demonstrate how they behave in a sentence.

do you have milk? [verb + noun] మీరు పాలు కలిగి ఉన్నారా? [Mīru pālu kaligi unnārā?]
I have milk and coffee [preposition + noun] నాదగ్గర పాలు మరియు కాఫీ ఉన్నవి [Nādaggara pālu mariyu kāphī unnavi]
he has three apples [number + plural noun] అతని వద్ద మూడు ఆపిల్స్ ఉన్నవి [Atani vadda mūḍu āpils unnavi]
she only has one apple [number + singular noun] ఆమె వద్ద కేవలం ఒక ఆపిల్ ఉంది [Āme vadda kēvalaṁ oka āpil undi]
we live in a small house [adjective + noun] మేము ఒక చిన్న హౌస్ లో Live [Mēmu oka cinna haus lō Live]
I like our breakfast [pronoun + noun] నాకు మా అల్పాహారం నచ్చినది [Nāku mā alpāhāraṁ naccinadi]

The following are nouns of food items that you might be interested in learning and memorizing.

bread రొట్టె [Roṭṭe]

milk పాలు [Pālu]

butter వెన్న [Venna]

cheese చీస్ [Cīs]

coffee కాఫీ [Kāphī]

sandwich సాండ్ విచ్ [Sāṇḍ vic]

meat మాంసం [Mānsaṁ]

chicken కోడికిసంబంధించినది [Kōḍikisambandhin̄cinadi]

fish చేప(లు) [Cēpa (lu)]

breakfast ఉదయపు ఆహారము [Udayapu āhāramu]

lunch మధ్యాహ్నభోజనం [Madhyāhnabhōjanaṁ]

dinner రాత్రిభోజనం [Rātribhōjanaṁ]

Conversation in Telugu

Now we finally reach the fun part, the practice of the daily conversations. These phrases are used to get to know new people, and break the ice.
