Sindhi Verbs

Welcome to the 10th lesson about verbs in Sindhi. We will first learn about the present tense, followed by the past tense, and future tense. We will also analyze some grammar rules, and finally practice how to ask for direction in Sindhi.

Verbs are used to express an action (I swim) or a state of being (I am). The present tense in Sindhi conveys a situation or event in the present time. Here are some examples:

Present Tense - Sindhi
I speak English مان انگريزي ڳالهائيندو آهيان
you speak French تون فرينچ ڳالهائين ٿو
he speaks German هو جرمن ڳالهائي ٿو
she speaks Italian هوءَ اطالوي ڳالهائي ٿي
we speak Arabic اسان عربي ڳالهايون ٿا
they speak Chinese اهي چيني ڳالهائين ٿا

The past tense in Sindhi conveys a situation or event in the past time. Here are some examples:

Past Tense - Sindhi
I visited France مان فرانس گھميس
you visited Italy توهان اٽلي گھمي
he visited Morocco هن مراڪش گھمي
she visited China هوءَ چين گهمڻ وئي
we visited Mexico اسان ميڪسيڪو گھمي
they visited Kenya هنن ڪينيا گھمي

The future tense in Sindhi conveys a situation or event which is anticipated to happen in the future. Here are some examples:

Future Tense - Sindhi
I will drink milk مان کير پيئندس
you will drink coffee توهان ڪافي پيئندا
he will drink tea هو چانهن پيئندو
she will drink water هوءَ پاڻي پيئندي
we will drink apple juice اسان صوف جو رس پيئنداسين
they will drink tea اهي چانهن پيئندا

Can you help me? ڇا توهان منهنجي مدد ڪندا؟
Can I help you? ڇا مان توهان جي مدد ڪريان؟
Where is the airport? ايئرپورٽ ڪٿي آهي؟
Go straight سڌا وڃو
Then پوءِ
Turn left کاٻي طرف مڙو
Turn right ساڄي طرف مڙو
