Polish Verbs

Welcome to the 10th lesson about verbs in Polish. We will first learn about the present tense, followed by the past tense, and future tense. We will also analyze some grammar rules, and finally practice how to ask for direction in Polish.

Verbs are used to express an action (I swim) or a state of being (I am). The present tense in Polish conveys a situation or event in the present time. Here are some examples:

Present Tense - Polish
I speak English mówię po angielsku Audio
you speak French mówisz po francusku Audio
he speaks German mówi po niemiecku Audio
she speaks Italian ona mówi po włosku Audio
we speak Arabic mówimy po arabsku Audio
they speak Chinese oni mówią po chińsku Audio

The past tense in Polish conveys a situation or event in the past time. Here are some examples:

Past Tense - Polish
I visited France odwiedziłem francję Audio
you visited Italy odwiedziłeś włochy Audio
he visited Morocco odwiedził maroko Audio
she visited China odwiedziła chiny Audio
we visited Mexico odwiedziliśmy meksyk Audio
they visited Kenya zwiedzili kenię Audio

The future tense in Polish conveys a situation or event which is anticipated to happen in the future. Here are some examples:

I will drink milk będę pić mleko Audio
you will drink coffee bedziesz pił kawę Audio
he will drink tea bedzie pił herbatę Audio
she will drink water bedzie piła wodę Audio
