Galician Verbs

Welcome to the 10th lesson about verbs in Galician. We will first learn about the present tense, followed by the past tense, and future tense. We will also analyze some grammar rules, and finally practice how to ask for direction in Galician.

Verbs are used to express an action (I swim) or a state of being (I am). The present tense in Galician conveys a situation or event in the present time. Here are some examples:

Present Tense - Galician
I speak English eu falo inglés
you speak French vostede fala francés
he speaks German el fala alemán
she speaks Italian ela fala italiano
we speak Arabic nós falamos árabe
they speak Chinese eles falan chinés

The past tense in Galician conveys a situation or event in the past time. Here are some examples:

Past Tense - Galician
I visited France eu visitei francia
you visited Italy vostede visitou italia
he visited Morocco el visitou marrocos
she visited China ela visitou china
we visited Mexico nós visitamos méxico
they visited Kenya eles visitaron quenia

The future tense in Galician conveys a situation or event which is anticipated to happen in the future. Here are some examples:

I will drink milk eu beberei leite
you will drink coffee vostede beberá café
he will drink tea el beberá té
she will drink water ela beberá auga
we will drink apple juice nós beberemos zume de mazá
they will drink tea eles beberán té

Go straight siga dereito
