Persian Verbs

Welcome to the 10th lesson about verbs in Persian. We will first learn about the present tense, followed by the past tense, and future tense. We will also analyze some grammar rules, and finally practice how to ask for direction in Persian.

Verbs are used to express an action (I swim) or a state of being (I am). The present tense in Persian conveys a situation or event in the present time. Here are some examples:

Present Tense - Persian
I speak English من به زبان انگلیسی حرف می زنم Audio
you speak French شما به زبان فرانسه حرف می زنید Audio
he speaks German او به زبان آلمانی حرف می زند Audio
she speaks Italian او به زبان ایتالیایی حرف می زند Audio
we speak Arabic ما به زبان عربی حرف می زنیم Audio
they speak Chinese آنها به زبان چینی حرف می زنند Audio

The past tense in Persian conveys a situation or event in the past time. Here are some examples:

Past Tense - Persian
I visited France من از فرانسه دیدن کردم Audio
you visited Italy شما از ایتالیا دیدن کردید Audio
he visited Morocco او از مراکش دیدن کرد Audio
she visited China او از چین دیدن کرد Audio
we visited Mexico ما از مکزیک دیدن کردیم Audio
they visited Kenya آنها از کنیا دیدن کردند Audio

The future tense in Persian conveys a situation or event which is anticipated to happen in the future. Here are some examples:

Future Tense - Persian
I will drink milk من شیر خواهم نوشید Audio
you will drink coffee شما قهوه خواهید نوشید Audio
he will drink tea او چای خواهد نوشید Audio
she will drink water او آب خواهد نوشید Audio
we will drink apple juice ما آب سیب خواهیم نوشید Audio
they will drink tea آنها چای خواهند نوشید Audio

Where is the airport? فرودگاه کجا است؟ Audio
Go straight مستقیم بروید Audio
Then سپس Audio
Turn left بپیچید سمت راست Audio
Turn right بپیچید سمت چپ Audio
